Anne Luard and Jane Marshall have been operating their popular canal painting workshop weekends since 1997.

Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced painter looking for a refresher, you can be assured of a warm welcome and expert tuition.

All paints, brushes and practise boards are supplied but guests are encouraged to bring along an item such as a water can or bowl in a gloss base colour ready for decoration.

 

Course fees are £70.00 per person which includes lunch on both days and sundry refreshments.
Bed & Breakfast accommodation can be arranged locally if required at extra cost - please enquire for details.


A TYPICAL WORKSHOP WEEKEND

  • Introduction and familiarisation over coffee and biscuits. Take a look at photos of previous courses and reference books.
  • Discussion on paints and brush types. Also talk about layout and stages of painting.
  • Practise brush strokes on boards to gain confidence before starting on main item
By the end of the first day you will have worked out a suitable layout for your item and have the leaves and bases of the roses completed. Also the background for the castle will be in place.
 

Painting a castle

On the second day you will finish the roses and castles - practising on the boards first . If time permits you can try lining out, graining and lettering.
