Macuto & the East Coast

Colonial buildings in Macuto Left: Colonial style buildings in Macuto. In January 2000 massive mudslides destroyed most of Macuto. Maybe these buildings don't exist anymore.
Right: The main corridor of the Hotel Madrid in Barcelona. A complete dump - but with the most comfortable beds in South America - sometimes appearances can be deceptive!

Very nice hotel in Barcelona

Here are a few views of the beach and wildlife in Santa Fe - part of Mochima National Park. We spent a very relaxing few days here.

Fishing boats unloading in Santa Fe
Pelicans
The Caribean Sea at Santa Fe
The Beach at Santa Fe
The Restaurant at Hostel Siete Delphines merges with the beach!
Lack of roads at the western end of Santa Fe beach
Are they pelicans sitting on that boat?
Iguana

Cumana is one of the oldest towns on the continent. A very colourful place with a well restored old town centre.

Rio Caribe was the furthest east we travelled. Not many tourists reach here. The village is mainly concerned with fishing.

Rio Caribe fish market. Would they be pelicans there?
